The Story

The “Cheeseburger in Paradise” restaurant chain, inspired by Jimmy Buffett’s popular song, was a casual dining establishment with an island theme. It operated between 2002 and 2020, with the last location closing in September 2020 in Secaucus, New Jersey. The chain initially partnered with OSI Restaurant Partners, and Jimmy Buffett licensed the name.

The Drink

Planter’s Punch – This version is a blend of two different rums, honey and pineapple juice. It is incredibly smooth and the “three of strong” will sneak up on you before you realize it. This is a great recipe for batching when you want to serve a crowd.

Aged Rum – 1 ½ ounces
White Rum – 1 ½ ounces
Fresh Lemon Juice – 1 ounce
Honey Syrup – 1 ounce
Pineapple Syrup – 1 ounce
Club Soda – 2 ounces

Combine all the ingredients, except the club soda, in a shaker and fill with ice cubes. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds. Strain the contents of the shaker into the Cheeseburger In Paradise Mug filled with crushed ice. Top with the club soda. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry.
