Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, originally Harvey’s Wagon Wheel Saloon & Gambling Hall, opened in 1944 as a small gas station with three slot machines. It was founded by Harvey Gross, a Sacramento businessman, and his wife Llewellyn.Over the years, it expanded into a large resort casino, becoming the first high-rise hotel in Lake Tahoe. In 2025, it was announced that Harvey’s would be rebranded as Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, following a $160 million renovation.
Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC). The company was an importer of porcelain, stoneware and giftware in the San Francisco area for more than 46 years. The products were made in Japan and were imported for distribution and sold to high end Restaurants, Bars, Department Stores and Gift Shops worldwide. Otagiri products were handcrafted, hand painted and highly sought after.
Hula Skirt – The bold bright color of this cocktail makes it stand out in a crowd, but the drink isn’t as sweet as it looks. Most of that vibrant color comes from Campari, which has a bitter orange flavor that is quite unexpected when you take your first sip. The orange blends well with the lime and spice flavors that are also in this cocktail, making for a drink that is absolutely intriguing from the first sip to the last.
Aged Jamaican Rum – 2 ounces
Campari Liqueur – ¼ ounce
Falernum Liqueur – ½ ounce
Fresh Lime Juice – 1/4 ounce
Grenadine Syrup – 1 teaspoon
Combine all ingredients in a shaker and fill with ice cubes. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds. Strain the contents of the shaker into the Hula Girl Mug. Garnish with a hula skirt.
How to make a hula skirt garnish – Cut a lime in half, then cut a small opening in the end of one half and scoop out the pulp. Using a pair of scissors, cut vertical slits all around the lime shell. Place on the rim of the mug as a garnish.
