The Story

Latitude 20 was a Polynesian-themed nightclub in Torrance, California, that operated from 1966 to 1980. It was originally the Polynesian, then briefly Jamaica West, before Hop Louie purchased it and renamed it Latitude 20. The venue was later converted to a country-themed establishment called Waco’s, then Calamity’s, before being demolished in 1984.

Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC). The company was an importer of porcelain, stoneware and giftware in the San Francisco area for more than 46 years. The products were made in Japan and were imported for distribution and sold to high end Restaurants, Bars, Department Stores and Gift Shops worldwide. Otagiri products were handcrafted, hand painted and highly sought after.

The Drink

Kahuna Sour – This is exactly the type of drink that everyone should be enjoying when they are poolside at a beach resort – or if they simply wish that they were. It’s a bright fruity, and not too sweet, thanks to a blend of passion fruit and lime that is both refreshing and addictive.

Light Rum – 2 ounces
Falernum Liqueur – ½ ounce
Fresh Lime Juice – 1 ounce
Passion Fruit Puree – 1 ounce
Simple Syrup – ½ ounce

Combine all ingredients, except the club soda, in a shaker and fill with ice cubes. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds. Strain the contents of the shaker into the Surfer Girl Mug filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and pineapple wedge speared on a cocktail pick.
