The Islander was a popular Polynesian-themed restaurant in Los Angeles that opened in 1959, known for its exotic atmosphere with waterfalls, individual dining rooms in coconut trees, and a sunken cocktail lounge. It was a notable example of the mid-20th century tiki craze, featuring live entertainment like hula and fire dancers, and themed drinks such as the infamous "Husband Killer". The restaurant closed and was eventually demolished in the early 2010s, but its legacy lives on in tiki culture.
