Tiki Mug – Mai-Kai – Mara Amu #5 – OMC Japan

Since 1956, visitors the world over have come to the Mai-Kai for its award-winning Cantonese and American cuisine, tropical drinks and authentic South Seas setting, including thatched huts, torches, waterfalls, lagoons and magnificent gardens. Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC). The company was an importer of porcelain, stoneware and giftware in the San Francisco area for more than 46 years. The products were made in Japan and were imported for distribution and sold to high end Restaurants, Bars, Department Stores and Gift Shops worldwide. Otagiri products were handcrafted, hand painted and highly sought after.

Big Bamboo – By Mariano Licudine, circa 1958. As served at the Mai-Kai, but only to inductees into the Okole Maluna Society. The Big Bamboo evolved into the milder Mara Amu, which the Mai-Kai still serves today.

Jamaican Dark Rum – ½ ounce
Virgin Islands Gold Rum – 1 ounce
Fresh Grapefruit Juice – ½ ounce
Fresh Lime Juice – ½ ounce
Fresh Orange Juice – ½ ounce
Passion Fruit Syrup – ½ ounce
Angostura Bitters – 2 dashes

Put everything in a blender and blend at high speed for 5 seconds. Pour into the Mara Amu Mug with crushed ice.
